TODAY IS WORLD BOOK DAY!

We hope you are looking forward to doing some Reading activities. 

Everyone will receive a £1 World Book Day token by Parentmail.

9 - 9:20 - Morning Zoom and Get ready for the day

We look forward to welcoming you all back during our morning zoom at 9:10am. 

Morning Session - 9:30 - 12:30

The order of your timetable today will look different depending on when your Learning Workshop is (please refer to your Learning Workshop timetable). Try your best to complete the work set out below for the morning session. Remember to give yourself a 30 minute break around 10:30am.

Comprehension Workshop/Scavenger Hunt (30 mins)

The learning workshops focus today is comprehension.

If you have your workshop this morning then complete the Scavenger Hunt after lunch and vice versa.

Maths (1 hour)

11.30 - 12.00 - WORLD BOOK DAY LIVE LESSON

There are some worksheets to go with this live lesson. Try to have these printed off before the lesson begins. If you cannot print, then spend some time before the lesson writing the subheadings in a similar format on some paper so you are ready to take part in the activities. Be as creative as you like!

 

There is also some information for parents if you would like to understand what this live lesson will entail.

English: Describing Your Favourite Character (30 minutes) *Submission

World Book Day Character Description

Your Task: To write about your favourite Book Character

Print out the double page spread book template or turn a piece of A4 paper landscape and split it in half.

On the left hand page/side draw a picture of your favourite book character and write their name.

On the right hand side describe:

  • what story they are from
  • who the author is
  • what they are like as a character
  • why he/she is your favourite character

Optional:

  • Include a quote or life lesson you can take from them.

 

Make sure you fill the page with details!

Make the work as attractive as possible and bring it in to school on Monday.

 

If you are more of a fan of factual books, you should still do the activity.

On the left hand side, using colour and pictures include as many facts as you can from your favourite factual book.

On the right hand page, name the book the information is from and explain why this book is your favourite. Make sure you fill the page with writing, making it as interesting as possible to read.  

Afternoon Session

Your afternoon session should take place during 1:30 and 3pm.

For the last half an hour of today you can:

  • Finish off your character description from this morning
  • Complete the World Book Day top 5
  • Simply read for pleasure!
