Joan of Arc was born in France to a poor family in 1412. She grew up in turbulent times, her country was at war. Although she was only a teenager, she managed to inspire the French army to many important victories in the 15th Century, most famously, defending the city of Orleans from siege. St. Joan acted with divine guidance after her visions of St. Catherine and St. Margaret who told her to go on the journey to inspire the armies. St. Joan was resilient, persevering and brave, three characteristics we encourage our children to show during their time at St. Alban's.
