Welcome to the St Alban's Catholic Primary School website!

Year 3/4 Linden

The Linden Tree (Tilia).

From late June through mid-July, this Tilia dangles creamy-yellow, star-shaped flowers beneath its pale-green branches. The flowers are not bold or large but they don’t have to be! They announce their presence by exhaling the sweetest, most powerful perfume known to the plant kingdom.   The scent — a blend of honey and lemon peel — is far-reaching.

Ask your child about the Roman Myth we have shared which tells the tale of how the Linden Tree came to be.

Dear Parents

This week, St Alban's School are Silk 106.9 FM's school of the week! We were visited by Dane and Cheshire Cat who enjoyed our school assembly on Monday morning.  Year 3/4 performed their 'Just like a Roman' song and did an excellent job.  (Please see the picture below).  You can hear our Year 6 children talking to Silk FM this Friday between 3.30 to 4.30 pm.

Sports Day will soon be with us (Thursday 30th June from 1.30 to 3.00pm).  The children have been busy practising  and are looking forward to showing off their skills during our Sports Day events.  Please make sure that your child's PE kit is in school for the whole week as their usual PE days may very well change over the next few weeks.  It would also be useful if they had a plastic drinks bottle so your child can have access to water whilst on the playing field.

Year 4 will soon be visiting All Hallows for a taster day on Thursday, 25 June and Year 3 will have an All Hallows Retreat Day on Thursday, 2 July.  Letters for Year 4 have already gone out and Year 3's will be going out shortly.  Please ensure you return the permission slips.

Best wishes

Paula Smith and Janet Pratt.

Some parents have asked for useful links to websites for your child to practise their times tables. This link is a free website with some fun games http://www.maths-games.org/times-tables-games.html

Summer Term Topic Year 3/4  -  Food Fit for Heroes

After the Easter break our new topic 'Food Fit For Heroes', will involve planning, designing and making a healthy pizza. Therefore could you please collect any of the following:

  • clean pizza boxes ( all pizza outlets are happy to let you take a few extra clean ones!)
  • pizza menus
  • pizza pictures
  • pizza flyers
  • pizza advertisements

If any of the above could be sent into school with the children during the first or second week back it would be very much appreciated.  Thanking you for your continued co-operation.!
