What is 90% attendance and what does it mean?
Students with 90% attendance means that they are absent from lessons for the equivalent of one half day every week.
90% attendance means that a student has missed the equivalent of four whole weeks of lessons in the school year.
If a student has 90% attendance continually throughout their time at school, over 5 years they will miss the equivalent of about one half of a school year.
If your child’s attendance is less than 90% it is likely that you will be contacted by our attendance officer who will arrange a meeting to discuss strategies for improved attendance. If attendance does not improve after this it could mean that we will ask Education Welfare to be involved.
