Phonics
In the Autumn term, year one children re-cap their reception phase 2, 3 and 4 learning to ready themselves for phase 5 phonics. Phase 5 is (approximately) a 30 week programme that then constitutes the rest of the year one phonetic learning. If your child struggles with phonics, then additional work on phases 2-4 will greatly benefit them.
