Procedures

  • Outdoor PE will take place on a Monday - please ensure the children have leggings or tracksuit bottoms, trainers, socks and a jumper.
  • Indoor PE will take place either Thursday or Friday -  the children need a blue St Albans T-shirt, blue shorts, socks, pumps or trainers.
  • Homework will go home on a Friday - it will include a spelling sheet related to the Phonics lessons, a Maths and an English task - please return for following Wednesday.
  • Guided reading - this will be a group read with the teacher, generally on the same day every week. Some weeks there may be a homework task to be completed for the following reading session.
  • Free reads - children may change their books as soon as the book is finished and can record in logbooks independently. Please encourage the children to log Library books or home reads too, this enables us to see what the children enjoy reading. We will be checking these on a weekly basis.

Autumn Term Dates

  • On Thursday 12th September there will be ‘The Hobbit’ in school performed by a visiting theatre company. Suggested donation £2.50.

  • We are hoping to put on our annual Christmas play and will keep you posted.

We have begun rehearsing our songs for the Christmas Production! Happy singing!

Faster than a Rocket

Faster than a rocket, speeding like a bullet,

Angels made the journey to earth from Heaven!

Shooting like a comet, flying supersonic,

Angels with a message to earth from Heaven!

What a journey, what a special sight!

Sent from glory, in a blaze of light they’re going…

Chorus

It’s amazing, it’s an awesome sight!

From the Heavens, through the starry skies they’re coming…

Chorus

Many angels in the air tonight,

On a mission sent from God on high they’re coming…

Chorus x2

Jump up!

Jump up, get yourself moving x3

Come and see the baby in Bethlehem.

Jump up, get yourself moving x3

Come and see the baby in Bethlehem.

Good News! Jesus is born for us!

Good News! Given for all of us!

Good News! Look at what God has done,

Loving us enough to send his only son,

Let’s go find him, let’s go find him,

Let’s go find him, COME ON!

(Sing through twice)

Jump up, get yourself moving x3

Come and see the baby in Bethlehem.

Jump up, get yourself moving x3

Come and see the baby in Bethlehem.

Come and see the baby in Bethlehem.

Away in a Manger

Angels first verse:

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus, laid down his sweet head.

The stars in the bright sky, looked down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus, asleep in the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes,

I love thee Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,

And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay

Close by me for ever, and love me I pray,

Bless all the dear children, in thy tender care,

And fit us for heaven, to live with thee there.

We wish you a Merry Christmas

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.

Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!

Now bring us figgy pudding
Now bring us figgy pudding
Now bring us figgy pudding
And a cup of good cheer

We won't go 'til we get some
We won't go 'til we get some
We won't go until we get some
So bring it out here!

When Santa got stuck up the Chimnney

When Santa got stuck up the chimney,

He began to shout,

solo:    You girls and boys, Won't get any toys,

If you don't pull me out.

My beard is black,There's soot on my sack,

         My nose is tickling too.!

When Santa got stuck up the chimney,

Achoo, Achoo, Achoo.

Tick Tock

Tick, tock, it’s nearly 8 o’clock,

Better make a move before it gets too hot,

Tick, tock, it’s nearly 8 o’clock,

Time we went ‘cause Bethlehem’s a long way off.

Duet: Mary and Joseph

Chorus : 9 o’clock

Duet: Mary and Joseph

Chorus : 10 o’clock

Duet: Mary and Joseph

Chorus : 10 o’clock (twice and repeat last line)

It’s a long way to Bethlehem

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, it’s a dry and dusty road,

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, do we really have to go?

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, it’s a lot for little feet,

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, we’ll be walking for a week!

Better get up, get off, get a move on,

Better be on our way,

Hurry it up, come on get your shoes on,

We must be gone today.

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, we’ll be bored to bits, I know,

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, and we’d rather stay at home.

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, it’s a hundred miles at least,

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, and you’re calling it a treat!

Chorus

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, it’s a dry and dusty road,

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, do we really have to go?

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, it’s a lot for little feet,

It’s a long way to Bethlehem, we’ll be walking for a week!

Chorus x2

We must be gone, we must be gone, we must be gone today!

Listen to our Story

Come on and listen to our story,

That happened long ago,

There’s lots to hear,

But first of all, meet Mary and meet Jo,

Then come with us to Bethlehem,

‘Cause that’s where it’s all happening,

And most important of all, there’s a baby.

Come on lets go, with Mary and Jo,

And what do you know? Well show you a baby!

And so our story starts on Monday,

It was Mary’s washing day,

When an angel pops in through the door,

And then she hears him say,

Now God says you’re the chosen one,

To be a very special mum,

And most important of all, there’s a baby.

Come on lets go, with Mary and Jo,

And what do you know? Well show you a baby!

Jingle bells

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh,
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
Through the fields we go
Laughing all the way.
Bells on bob-tail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight.
