Assessment of RE at St Alban's School
At St Alban's we have clearly defined learning outcomes taken from the RE Directory. The curriculum we deliver systematically builds up the children's knowledge over time. It is designed, not only to develop and grow understanding of our faith, but encourages the children to question, becoming independent thinkers and learners.
We assess throughout the topic formatively and, if needed, complete summative assessment tasks at the end of the topic. This knowledge feeds into the teachers' medium and short term planning to ensure we tailor the RE curriculum to meet all the needs of our children.
Key vocabulary and scripture is shown on the front cover for each topic to support the children's learning. At St Alban's, a teacher assessment is recorded three times a year, based on the lesson outcomes, book work and discussions with the children.
