Welcome to St Alban's Catholic Primary School !

Intent, Implementation and Impact

Intent

At St. Alban's , our computing curriculum aims to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills to become confident, creative, and responsible users of technology.

We provide engaging opportunities to develop computational thinking and problem-solving skills through programming and logical reasoning. Pupils learn to be digitally literate, using technology to communicate, create, and collaborate effectively.

A strong emphasis on online safety ensures children understand how to use technology responsibly, respectfully, and securely. Our goal is to prepare pupils for a digital future by fostering curiosity, creativity, and an understanding of the world around them.

Implementation

At St Albans Catholic Primary school, we aim to implement a Computing Curriculum that provides children with engaging and effective lessons, based on the Kapow scheme, that covers the key areas of the computing curriculum. Our lessons are structured, progressive and inclusive for all students at our school.

New Scheme for 2025!

We are delighted to introduce you to our new Kapow computing scheme. After seeing the success of using Kapow in our Art and Design and Technology lessons, we have also decided to move over to Kapow for our Computing lessons. These lessons will continue to provide children with a variety of experiences based on the Computing curriculum with use of a rich amount of software experiences that will help them progress with their understanding of Computing.

Impact

Children at St. Albans thoroughly enjoy their journey through the Computing topics that they work on. Evidenced in our computing books, you can see images of their hard work as well as photographic evidence of their enjoyment throughout the process.
