8:50-9:10 - Guided Reading

As well as accessing ebooks through Oxford Owl (link below), there are some great apps to help with reading, such as Reading Eggs and Teach Your Monster to Read (the computer version of this is free). Spend 20 minutes enjoying a good book that you have got at home, an ebook or one of the reading apps.

9:10-9:25 - Live Morning Register

Our current R.E. topic is called ‘Families and Celebrations’. What family celebrations do you know of that take place in a church? How do you think you become part of the family of the Church?

We all belong to God’s family. God looks after us and we look after each other. To become part of the church family, and show that you intend to follow in Jesus’ footsteps, you get baptised. Have you ever been to a baptism, if so, what happened?

Read the story about a baptism, and have a go at answering the questions to form a deeper understanding. Then, watch the two clips below about baptism. Once you have done this, write a few sentences about what happens at a baptism on your writing sheet. Can you use the words holy oil, holy water and font?

Extension – Find out if you know anyone who has been baptised. Perhaps you were? See if the person who was baptised has any items from their special day that they can show you, for example their Christening robe, a prayer book or photographs. Perhaps you could take a picture of them and share them with your teachers.
